Covered in writing, in three layers
Your warranty certificate is registered with Crestwell Exteriors, the company behind ClearSpout, in your name, with its own certificate number. It arrives with your photo report the same day as your install.
Layer 1: the product, from the manufacturer
You get Alu-Rex's written warranty on the guard itself, which transfers once with the house and is limited to the product's price. The exact terms come with your warranty certificate.
We install exactly to the manufacturer's installation instructions, screws every 24 inches, because that's what keeps this warranty valid. If a product fault ever needs a repair, Alu-Rex approves it in writing first, and we handle that for you.
Alu-Rex prints the length and the conditions of its cover on its own sheet, which comes with your certificate. We quote its words, not ours, once we have them in writing from Alu-Rex.
Layer 2: our workmanship, 2 years
For 2 years from your install, Crestwell Exteriors covers the work itself: the attachment and fasteners, the seams and end caps we sealed, the pitch and drainage as we set them, and any leak at our fasteners. If it's our work, we fix it at no charge.
It stays with the house. If you sell, the new owner keeps the remaining term by registering with us after closing.
Layer 3: the Drain Guarantee, 12 months
Your gutters drain. If a blockage makes them overflow in the first 12 months, call or text us and we come back and fix it at no charge. After that, ClearSpout Care members get the same promise every year. A blockage means debris inside the trough or downspout, or on the guard, that stops water getting in or out; we show you a photo either way. Ice is not a blockage.
What isn't covered
Plainly, so there's no argument later:
- severe weather and acts of God;
- ice damming, ice load and snow slides (ice comes from heat leaving the attic, not from the guard);
- failure or movement of the roof, fascia, soffit or gutters, including rot or damage that was there before we installed, which is why we photograph everything first;
- work by anyone else on the gutters, roof or guard;
- pressure-washing, walking on, or removing the guard;
- animal damage;
- normal weathering, and surface debris that needs brushing (that's what Care is for);
- indirect losses.
Nothing here takes away the rights Ontario law gives you.
How to claim
Call, text or email us as soon as you notice a problem, with a photo if you can.
We come and look, in season, and show you a photo of what we find.
If it's covered, we repair or replace at no charge. If it isn't, we say why in writing and quote the fix. Product claims we pass to Alu-Rex for you.
